Bareboat charters are for those who wish to charter a sailing yacht by themselves, without the assistance of a professional skipper onboard. A sailing boat can be chartered as bareboat to a party who has one person with valid sailing license/ certificate (Skipper) & another one with enough sailing experience (Co-Skipper).

The available yachts for self-sailing in Greece vary from 9.0 meters/ 30 Feet to 17 meters/ 56 Feet long and accommodate 4 to 12 guests. The captain of the bareboat charter undertakes full liability of the yacht by signing the appropriate documents as well as by paying the refundable damage deposit as a guarantee for the vessel. The Refundable Deposit Guarantee varies from Euro 1.600 to Euro 2600 (depending on the type of boat) and is payable at the base upon embarkation by visa or MasterCard. However, the deposit is returned back to the charterer in case of the yacht’s safe redelivery.

Bareboat charters are within the main activities of Galazio Sailing. The major advantage of them is that the crew-members are free to follow the most preferred itinerary without paying a skipper’s fee or having a let’s say “unknown” person onto the yacht.

That is a really independent sailing adventure!

Skippered charters are for those who either do not have enough (or even no) experience to sail by themselves or prefer to hire a professional skipper to take the helm for them.

Yachts under 17 meters/ 56 Feet which accommodate 4 to 12 guests are appropriate for skippered charters in Greece. In this case, clients (along with the professional skipper) undertake full liability of the yacht by signing the appropriate documents as well as by paying the refundable damage deposit as a guarantee for the vessel. The Refundable Deposit Guarantee for a skippered charter is usually less than the one in a bareboat charter and is payable at the base upon embarkation by visa or MasterCard. However, the deposit is returned back to the charterer in case of the yacht’s safe redelivery.

Skippered charters are the less expensive holidays in a crewed yacht and the best way for someone to discover hidden places and local treasures without having stress for the preferred itinerary & the boat’s safety.

NOTE: Both in Bareboat & Skippered charters, a 2nd crew member (a cook or a hostess/ steward) can take care of breakfasts/ light meals and tour information upon request.
