Although Alimos (Kalamaki) marina in Athens is the prime yacht charter base so as to sail the Cyclades sailing area, Galazio Sailing suggests two more bases (Lavrion & Paros port) as an alternative starting point for this area.
Below, one may see the map and a general description about Lavrion port in Athens.
Lavrion port is located in the South East part of Athens, very close to the Athens International Airport and the popular Cyclades islands (14NM from Kea island!). Although Lavrion is a good starting point if you want to sail the Cyclades islands, only a few charter companies operate a base there, consequently availability is rather limited. Lately, new docks were built in Lavrion and the port will soon become an important ferry terminal for the Greek islands.

There are mainly two ways to reach Lavrion charter base once you land in Athens International airport. The fast way (and most expensive way) is by taking a taxi from right outside the airport main hall to Lavrion port. The other, more affordable way is to take the coach bus.
